I am simply going to be grateful for what I have and the people who are still in my life that still deserve to be here. I tried again working on my Christmas cards but at this late in the game
I think it's a lost cause. So here is the basic card the only thing missing is the insert piece that has the greeting. I am thinking I will do that in red. Little description of the card. The base is made from a a piece of recollections paper that comes in 8 1/2 by 11 sheets. It is patterned on one side and white on the other. I cut it length wise and folded it in half. The red, gold and green patterned paper is from Recollections Christmas Botanical paper pad and I cut a 4.25 by 3 section and cut it in half so I had 2 sections of 4.25 by 1.5. You can see I folded the one end of the card down 1.5 inches and and glued the patterned paper to each of the exposed white parts of the brown recollections paper and inked Pine Needles Distress ink. I took some Bazzil card in Kiwi Crush and cut several small strips of it. I punched a scalloped edged to one of the strips. Inked them with the same distress ink. In fact I inked pretty much EVERYTHING in distress ink. The Santa approved logo came from a piece of patterned paper that I had in my stash. I'll look tonight to see if I have the name of it and add it to this entry. I cut each of them out I took more Kiwi Crush and cut scalloped circle with my spellbinder die I layered those two pieces together and adhered the 2 together added a pop dot and centered it on the card. I used the Tim Holtz Holly die to cute the holly in the bottom corner of the card and ran the leaves though one of my embossing folders. It is another Timmy product and I think it's part of the damask set I bought. I'm really not sure the name of it. And that's it! That's all I have for today!
I got an amazing box at my work on Monday! It was from my Secret Santa whom I now know is Jacky !!!! This is what came to my work I was really speechless and shocked that it was delivered here. I then had to suffer though the whole day of knowing that I had this box here at work and I wasn't allowed to open it until I got home and could open it on camera

Here is my video!!!.

I really am glad that I listened to Gina because it was AMAZING!!!! I know that I appreciated being able to see my partners reactions when she got her package. The package I sent off was also delivered all the way to Australia! Here is her video of opening it.
This entry is really basic. I know there isn't really much to read but I'm pretty proud of my self learning how to embed video's all by my self. I have a terrible case of the tireds tonight here at work and I'm waiting for lecture to be over so I can start my demonstration after that. Then I can head home!

Wednesday at work I did a little bit of copic coloring but didn't get that far with it. See look at my amazing coloring skills. LoL! Ok I know they aren't really but it's pretty good for me. As you can see I'm not so good at the blending, choosing colors or even staying in the lines. I'll have to continue to work on those as I practice more. I'm sure I'll improve.... Well actually probably not. I wasn't so good as a child either. So I know the big questions on every one's mind is: What did I do last night? Since I know you are all dying to know. Let me tell you! A whole lot of crafty nothing!! Instead Jack and I had our usual Thursday date night, hitting a local watering hole for a dart tournament. We didn't win but had some fun. It's really hard to always be the adult, the responsible, the designated driver. I'm young!! I want to be able to cut loose sometimes and have a glass of wine or a cocktail. But if I'm driving I won't even have 1 drink that night. It's just not worth it no matter what anyone tries to tell me! There have been enough driving infractions in my household to last 5 lifetimes or more. So I sip on my orange juice and sprite and take mental notes of all the "adults" acting ridiculous and think of ways to bring up their bad behaviors in future conversations. Muahahahaha!

Back tracking to Wednesday night I worked on finishing the cricut cuts for my friend over on MSR then I started working on some Christmas cards. I didn't take any pictures of them yet. I'm not sure that I even like them or will stick with them but I'll keep playing with them. Thursday I brought in the pens and stamps again so that I could try to do a little more practice. Guess what I did the dum dum that I am? I forgot to bring paper. Yep so my pens sat idle all day long. What did I do? Absolutely nothing! Ok so I surfed the web and I chatted over at MSR but that was about it. I even attempted to blog but nothing would come out. So today is Friday once again I'm working but the bright side of today is I remembered the paper!! I have some students coming in at 10am to pick up their graduation packets so that will be some excitement in a few minutes. I will have to pause this blog entry to go instruct them on their next steps of future career. I am really hoping for a miracle today through Monday morning. I'm hoping we get a RUSH of registrations. We need them very badly. Although I like to have this down time where I can do pretty much as I please, as long as I'm here at the school. I know in my heart registrations need to pick up or we may have to close the doors. Yikes! I don't know what I would do.... Going back to a "regular" job would not be something I would want to do. I'll be right back. I have to open the doors to let some of the students in.

Whew! I'm back. That was a long winded speech I just gave. I gotta cut back my talking on the next one. With the graduation packets given out now all I have to do is sit here till 430. I have my copics to practice and I also have a audio book. I know what your all thinking, AUDIO BOOK??? My grandma listens to audio books! hee hee hee! I love them. I don't have time to sit and read a book I have way too much other stuff going on and have to be able to multi-task. Can you read and cut out images or make a card while reading? Well I can listen and do those things so it's a win-win situation for me. Right now I'm in the middle of The Murder of King Tut by James Patterson. It's not his usual style of book but a good story all the same. Well I think this will just about wrap up this entry. I'm out of things to blather on about and I'm sure if your still reading this (THANK YOU!!!!) and I'm sure your tired of reading.

I'm talking about the real dealWho else gets to craft at work? I know there are plenty of professional crafters who get to. But I'm talking about this girl! For those of you who don't know I mean me! Although it would be much easier to be able to stay home and work on projects where all of my supplies are. I have to make a living some how and if I'm blessed enough to have a job that allows me to do as I please during the down time. I call that a win! The hardest part of my job is that is is slow right now. As much as I enjoy the quiet time, it's killing me financially. Being the bread winner of the house it makes for some very creative budgeting when payday is delayed 2 weeks due to a class being post phoned. I hate discussing financial issues and most of the time would rather act as an ostrich and bury my head in the sand to not have to deal with any of if. This time of year is especially hard for me to do that. I know a lot of people are struggling and I, myself am not exempt from financial hardship that seems to be plaguing EVERYONE. I'm not ready to pack my bags and move into the poor house just yet but some days it feels like we are teetering ever closer to that edge. Everything gets paid it just seems like there is less and less if anything left over. Not to worry though we are tough and will make it though. Today really opened my eyes and has made me choose to look at the holiday season in a whole new light. Thanks to a very sweet and dear friend whose words of encouragement and understanding were just what I needed this afternoon.I'm getting all sense-a-puff right now but don't forget to tell your friends and family what they mean to you. It just might make the difference in their day.

I had decided to bring some images to color into work with me today. I have already given up on coloring them after finishing just one, I just don't have the mojo. Then I was going to start sketching ideas for a local card exchange coming up here in January but I don't have the gumption to that either. I have two more videos to film, but haven't and filming those at work would be nearly impossible. But good news is I'm ready to film tonight! I even painted my nails all pretty! I have my excuses of why that didn't happen last night just seems like the last couple of days has been a lot of "That didn't happens" Last night was not a waste though I did spend some time being crafty and broke out my cricut and almost completed a project I have been working on for several weeks.

What is that project you ask? Well....One of the gals I met on MSR had her cricut that was stolen. WHO STEALS A CRICUT?!?!?! Well in my opinion someone EVIL!!!! You don't just take a person's craft stuff that's just not right. For those of my fellow crafters you all know how expensive craft supplies are. We all work very hard to build up our stashes and for someone to just come along and take it all away... well I think the person who stole it should be beaten! I know that stealing someones crafting stuff is not a capital offense but but should be! Anyway enough of that rant... So moving on to the very exciting update of what I did last night. I made a TON of Christmas cuts from my Cricut to send. As we were talking about what happened to her cricut she told me she was going to make a Christmas mini and missed her cricut to help with making the embellishments, I offered to send her cuts. I have been slowing making cuts for her over the last few weeks between projects I have been working on and last night I kicked the cricut into high gear and made a crazy amount of cuts. I'm pretty sure I'll need a new blade very soon as well as some more mats. The cuts I made are mostly white so she can ink, spray, stamp or color them to her liking. I have made a few cuts from patterned papers but not many. I will finish them tonight and send them out in the mail tomorrow morning.

Beyond that I'm not sure what the next project is going to be... I have been toying with the idea of doing a pin-up calendar. If I start now I can for sure get all of them done by next year. I figure if I do Decembers now I will have them done and can send them out for gifts next Christmas.... I'll think on that one a bit longer. Like I have said before I have the best of intentions but a lot of times poor follow though. This will be my #1 goal to work on with the coming year is upping my productivity and my follow though. My 2nd goal is to learn how to use blogger better. My blog looks like a child takes care of it I'm sure my friends 6 year old could do a better job with the design than I have. I am clueless how to personalize it or add videos. So if anyone is blogger savvy and would like to take pity on me to help let me know let me know. I don't have money to pay you with but I'll rave about you to my 9 followers here on blogger and my 80ish on Youtube!!! Hee hee hee! Hope you all are having a lovely Holiday season!
More Later

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, I crafted.. but I feel like nothing got done... I started rethinking the backs of my calendar and then my stubbornness bubbled up and I couldn't just scrap all the little fire trucks that I had cut and already pieced together and decided to solider on and got them all put together. I got them all done and posted Saturday morning. Here is what the whole calendar page looks like. I might have... gone a bit over board with the back side of mine. I know that a lot of people won't see the back side but I wanted it to be special and if someone did look at the back there was something interesting for them to see!

So the front as you can see was a lot of cuts from my cricut but as soon as the cuts were done and the pieces assembled the whole front went together pretty fast it was just a matter of making sure all the pieces in the right order I placed the ribbon and then the calendar piece then the banners. I can't tell you how many times I tired to do it in another order. That was the toughest part of the front making sure I laid everything down in the right order.

The back turned out to be quite easy more cricut cuts, the patterned paper from the front torn and distressed to look like a banner or what ever and the swap info., all piled onto a blue piece of card stock that I distressed and inked the edges in chipped Sapphire distress ink. So it wasn't the order of how things were put down except for the freedom and the 1776 cuts those obviously had to go on top of the patterned paper piece but just getting all the little parts glued down was the hard part. So although it was quite a bit of work putting those pieces together it was very much worth the work for the ladies who are getting them! I have been seeing videos of all the other calendars coming out and my excitement.
I also finished the 2nd swap with Nica which was one that I hosted over at MSR. Come over and join us!! There are monthly swaps and weekly challenges. All the ladies over on the site are so nice and Gina O our Hostess with the mostest is AMAZING!! If you have been reading my blog you know that for the last week or so I have been working on the cards for this Bundle of thanks swap and I have finished not only the 6 and final card but also the box as well!!! I feel so free now although not all the work is done. I still haven't started my Christmas cards and I'm sure there are other projects being neglected as we speak...I guess I'll have to kick my tail into high gear to actually get cards out!
Yay! So I will have to make a trip to the post office very soon to get both the ornament, card and also the box of Thank you cards in the mail to Miss Nica! I already did a video for the card and Ornament swap and some how I do not have a picture of the card so when I get home I will have to take a pic of the card and insert it into this blog post. For the ornament and card I used a mambi paper stack that I couldn't find a link to. Plus I'm not really into linking things. Hee hee hee! That's the lazy in me coming out! If you want more info on either let me know and I would be happy to answer any questions.

Ok so last but not least I am going to post the finished box and also each of the cards. First up is the 6th card in the series
It sounded more like the drunken ramblings of a crazy person than a proper blog entry! So I have spent my morning editing it. so why did I go back and read it you may ask? Well I wanted to add pics of my nails and flowers from yesterday and I couldn't remember if I had mentioned that Monday night I FINALLY put the huge Ikea 5x5 shelving unit.

Let's back up just a bit. I got this unit for free from a friend who was giving it away! I felt like I got the deal of the century. So I picked it up, brought it home, put it in the garage and there it sat for about 2 weeks waiting for me to get around to putting it together.I had every intention on putting this together and placing it in it's appointed place in my craft room the very night I got it but it was after 7 when I got home and I was tired. There was always one excuse or another of why "I" and by "I" what I really meant to say is why we didn't put it together. I thought for sure it was a two person job but I was wrong. My AMAZING Jack surprised me!!! When I got home from work about 2 and a half weeks ago there it was...all set up and sitting in the hallway waiting to be placed in the craft room.
He knew better than to try and move things around and get it in there without my help. Lord knows what would have happened had he done that! We had to shimmy past it every time we went down the hall to the bathroom, bedroom or craft room. You would think that would have prompted us to get it out of our way fast but alas it didn't.... we made a date for the Friday after Turkey day to move the shelf into my room. Again the excuses and put offs flowed freely. We seriously had more excuses of why we didn't move it out of the hall, but it boils down to just being lazy on my part. So Monday night I decided enough was enough. I got off work at 4:30. Traffic was a beast so we didn't get home till about 5:15 or so and I announced to a hesitant Jack that tonight was the night the shelf was going in the room. I cleared the wall free of the bins and other storage stuff I had where the shelf was going in about 10 min. We moved the shelf into place and I spent the next 4 or so hours re-organizing it still doesn't look like much but it's a work in progress.

So last night was pretty relaxed. After I got home from work about 8. Jack and I had dinner we caught up on our backlog of Dexter episodes during which I re-painted my ruined nails.I changed the colors slightly. Made the base coat a pearl white instead of an irradecent and chose a brighter pink with out sparkles so it stood out a little more. I like them better this way than with the original ones that I did yesterday. So I guess ruining them was meant to be other wise I would have just left them painted like that till they started chipping. I didn't get to any video making last night because I was having a party on Skype with some of the ladies that I met on MSR. I stayed up way too late but Gina, Maggie, and Marianna are too much fun! Even with all the giggling, laughing, chatting, singing, sighing. huffing and puffing about the card I was working not looking quite right... I got it done. Yay!! Look at me go! So now all I need to do is complete card 6 and decorate the box. If I keep up this pace I'll be done for New Years just yet!!!

I think when I finish the 6th card and I decorate the box I will do a post featuring all the cards & box along with a description of each. Of course it sounds like a good idea now but when it comes time to do it the reality of it might not sound so good and the likelyhood of me doing it is not good. Like I aways say I have the best of intentions just unusally poor follow through. That should be my New Years resolution. Holy Crap!!! It's not even Christmas and I'm thinking New Years! Any way here is the 5th card. Like I said before if you would like material lists or instructions on how to creat the card let me know and I'll list it.

So Monday was a very quiet uneventful day... Just like all the others. I feel like those shampoo directions. "Work into a rich lather and rinse thoroughly and repeat if desired.”<span style="font-family: Georgia, Palatino, "Times New Roman", Times, Serif, serif;">…
then you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That’s what it’s all
about! Although I'm not rich and there is no lather the work part was partially true. I also don't recommend the last part in the shower. You can slip in the we shower and hurt yourself badly. I know from experience, but that is a story for another time.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Palatino, "Times New Roman", Times, Serif, serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Palatino, "Times New Roman", Times, Serif, serif;">I did get a chance to work on 1 more of my Thank you cards last night and here it is. if any of you all would like to know what I used let me know I can start linking or explaining techniques
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Palatino, "Times New Roman", Times, Serif, serif;">
Today is testing my patience it seems like just as I made the decision to be more positive I keep getting tested. I don't know how many crazy people have to call and ask me the questions that they already know, cutting me off when I try and answer. The blessing of it all is I can sit at my desk and watch the traffic go by and there is even a couple of trees across the road so I can see some nature. It's windy and trees are dropping leaves like crazy! It's cool since they are all different colors of yellow orange & green. I think they are... well I'm not sure what they are but I can tell you with 100% certainty they are not birch, maple or dogwood.... which means there are a LOT of other options of trees that change colors and drop their leaves... I will do some research on it and try to remember to get back to you. Not that if even matters what they really are.

Other exciting news... This weekend crazy drunk lady ran from the police and crashed into one of the bridges which I use for my commute home. It's been closed since Sunday and should reopen some time today but with the city you never know what is really gonna happen. I just don't like it because I drove myself to work and been here all day by myself and will remain alone here at work until 5 when CPR starts. But because I drove myself and if the bridge remains shut down it will increase my commute time and that I do not like the thought of. I have done enough commuting in my life and don't want to sit in traffic any more time than I have to. Although I'm not sure that anyone really likes to commute. Monday the traffic was TERRIBLE! It took 45 min to get home and it usually only takes about 15. I have my fingers crossed the bridge is open and it only takes me 15 min to get home tonight.

It's been a really tough day for me *giggle* painting my nails has been very taxing for me. Talk about a total cliche'!!! Receptionist drinking coffee, painting nails and answering the phone.... LOL! but I'm all alone here at the school today. I don't have anyone but the ridiculous people on the phone to talk to. The boss is taking the day off and she deserves it! The stress of running this place ans registrations be low she needs a day off to do some stuff around the house, laundry for the school, and anything else she wants to do. The highlight of my day was I had an appointment at 1 for registration and she actually followed though and reserved a seat!! We just need like a million more! And we will be able to start the class on time!.
I think I'll put some flowers together that I started making last night. I saw a awesome tutorial for tattered hibiscus and have done my own take on them. The blog that I found is awesome her is her link Oh, Scrapulous!! She hasn't updated in quite some time but her work is amazing!!! Here are the ones that I did just a bit differently
I'm sure all 7 of you following my blog were dying to seen them ;-D. I used my Saloon express and stamped a pink flower and then I stamped a black out like just off set from that to give it a funky look. I need to clean up the edges of them but for me that's a pretty good paint job. I'm terrible at painting nails so I hardly ever do it well that and I am such a impatient person I start touching stuff too soon and ruin the paint job. Just as I have done I did such a good job of not touching anything until I put the top coat on. Then it all went down hill from there. I miss judged the dry time of the top coat and now they are smeared and yucky looking. So now I'll have to take it all off and start over. It really sucks! I painted them in anticipation of doing videos tonight, but seeing as how I need to repaint them don't know when I'll get to them now. Hopefully in the next couple of days I 'll do the videos

Ok well that's about all I have right now.
Well yesterday at work was pretty uneventful. Class went well they all worked hard and I did my best to be attentive to them all and help them with their skills. But there were no registrations.... I don't know why... Maybe the big guy is trying to tell us something and we are just refusing to listen to the direction he wants us to go. About 6 months ago Jack's mom was talking about opening up a 2nd business. I being a crafty person and she loves making things it was decided after an enormous amount of debating and researching that a craft "type" shop would be a wonderful business. Now her idea for a crafty business is not the same as mine but she is the one investing the money so, she started making moves to open it. Got a business name/license, looked at places to rent. When the shop next to us decided to relocate and the space next to us opened up. She debated for a couple of weeks and then decided to rent the space. It seemed like everything was falling into place. And then... dun dun dun! The bottom dropped out of the school and registrations plummeted so there was/is no money to go forward with opening the new shop. I don't know what this is telling her/me/us but some direction would be nice.

I know this is only my 2nd day of deciding to be positive but it seems like I'm being met with negativity every time I turn around. Stress, worry and fear do not make it easy for a person to be happy and positive. Here is one example of several of the negative issues I already encountered this morning. Instructor #1 who has been with us the longest like almost 5 years says he is quitting if we continue to employ Instructor #2. I won't got into the details of why these two refuse to get along. So now because of the ultimatum given to my boss, Instructor # 1 will not be kept on after this class completes. And here is yet another shoe dropping Instructor #2 who is not innocent in this private war that is being waged will be out till March with a broken leg. Thank God we still have Instructor #3 who is blissfully out of this battle. I'm knocking on wood and saying a silent prayer as I type this as to not jinx myself. But the upside to losing 2 instructors is we don't have the students so we really don't need them. See look at me I'm being positive!!! Hee hee hee!

Last night I did get 2 more cards done for that Bundle of thank you card swap I hosted. I'm so happy that my partner Nica agreed to push back the deadline as we maybe just maybe have overloaded our plates with projects. So here are the 2 cards I finished. They are all 4.25 by 5.5
For all cards in the bundle of thank yous I'm making, I let my partner Nica choose the paper collection. She had a choice between MME cowboy and SEI Couture since her favorite colors are purple, green and blue and she chose SEI Couture paper collection it's a pretty blend of all of them. I know it's an older collection but a very pretty one I'm happy I bought it I have used it in several projects now. I'm not going to go into details of what I used where if you would like details on supplies send me a message or leave a comment.
When I first thought about posting early this morning when I got to work I was going to tell you the uninteresting story of my crafting from last night and show a picture of 1 of the 6 cards I have to finish for a swap I am hosting on MSR. (which will be posted below) But now seeing how I have now wasted most of the day prowling blogs here on blogger I sit here at my computer in a quandary of what to type. So I'll tell you about my blog "hopping" this morning. I first looked on some of the blogs that I subscribe to and none were quite scratching that itch I was feeling. So I wandered over to YT and watched a few videos. When in my feed of YT channels a certain video appeared. It happened to be from someone that I had issue in the past with. Why I can't bring myself to unsubscribe or delete people I don't like? Why do I have the un-natural need to continue to see what is going on? Some may say it's stalking I call it being informed. hee hee hee! I say tomato you say potato. Well I know the answers to all those questions and I blame Paul Harvey and I'll tell you why! He ALWAYS followed up and gave me the rest of the story, and I soon was conditioned to rely on getting all of the information. Now I'm handicapped by my need to have the "whole" story, I don't accept missing bits of information in any story. Ok but back to where this story was originally going now that I myself have just now figured out where I want to go with it.
Where was I...... Oh yes I was on YT. Well I watched the video just to check out/be critical of what the video was of. When towards the end it gave me her blog address. So away I went....checking out the blog and passing my judgements as I went. I went back to the beginning of this year and started reading. Now I'm not going to feed you a bunch of bull where I now feel bad and apologized to her over the issue or where I want to make amends and be BFF with her. But I do feel like I have a bit more of an understanding of her. Don't get me wrong I still think she is crazy as a loon but I can say that I admire her consistent proclamation of her faith with out embarrassment, shame or hesitation.

This hasn't sparked a complete revolution in my attitude but it has made me realize that my negitive and judgemental ways need some mending. I got to thinking all the negative thoughts and actions that I have are a slow poision to my daily life. Case and point is the school that I work for it's a small vocational school, also a family business has been slow. Slow to the point it's getting to the point we are not sure if the dooes will remain open much longer. We have made all sorts of excuses from the economy to the school down the road that has copied our entire program taking students but after today I have determined that it's my bad attitude and not being thankful for the small number of people who have chosen to spend their hard earned money as tuition with our school. Instead of focusing on the postitive of being greatful for the registrations we do have, we instead focus on the ones that we didn't get.

I also realized that my bad/lazy attitude directly affects the school in every way. If I'm a witch on the phone or to a walk in or even to the enrolled students why would they want to register or refer a friend to come to us instead of the other 4 schools that are close to them as well. Small changes can have big effects and I'm going to start with changing my outlook and attitude and give the rest to the god. So with that being said I'm going to close this blog entry and move ahead with a better attitude and a thankful heart for what I have. I hope that others can also take that and do the same for themseves. I'm not trying to change the whole world but the little patch of space that I have carved out and call my own. Negative, poor attitudes destroy everything in their paths.
Uuuugh! Before I know what has hit me Christmas will be upon me and I'll blink and the New Year will have passed too. So I'm somewhere between here and there... I'm not sure where there is exactly but I'm gonna get there. I have been keeping very busy the last few months by joining swaps over at myscraproom.ning.com run by the lovely Gina who is also Scrapinology on YT. I have been terrible about taking pictures of the things I have created and even worse about updating here and on my YT channel. Which is I haven't already mentioned the name of my own channel it's TaesTatters. I must warn you I haven't updated there in a while either.

In the past couple months I have made altered tickes, b'twinchies, holiday charms with beads, my very first ATC's, cards, a halloween tag swap, a tag mini album swap, a halloween goodie bag swap, and the list goes on. I also agreed to be a swap hostess for a couple of months over at the scraproom as one of the ladies had some unforseen house repairs to attend to. This month I have been working on an altered x-mas ornament and matching card, a Calendar swap and my month was July, and a sceret santa swap complete with a mini.
So maybe I'm just on a crafty binge, or maybe I just like the look of my own thoughts on paper but whatever the reason here's another blog post. So the latest card I have been working is another birthday card for the man's aunt. This card I kept very simple.... for me at least! I use paper from Colorbok Pearlescent Paper (the blue and green collection), Olde Curiosity Shoppe from Graphic45, Sisal twine, stormy sky distress ink by Tim Holtz, Momento Tuxedo Black ink and another recollection stamp set with no name. I don't know what my obsession is lately with square cards because I never used to make square cards I always simply make A2 size and this is my third square card in a row!

I started out with a 5 1/4 square base, added 5 x 5 mat of the palest ice blue from the ColorBok paper pack I distressed the edges with my tonic distress tool and inked the edges in the stormy sky distress ink, Using the flying pig pattern paper from the Gaphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe I created a slightly smaller mat, inking and distressing the edges and using one of my fiskers scalloped border punches on the bottom edge. I took a white doily from my stash inked it with the stormy sky and adhered that on top of the flying pig paper.

I created the band across the center of the card by cutting strips of the pattern paper distressing and inking the edges. The sisal that I used to wrap around the paper band I created came from my local drugstore I got 55 yards for a dollar! I have to warn you I almost was unable to use the sisal because of the smell when I open the packaging. It has a very strong chemical smell okay maybe not a chemical but definitely smelled like it been dipped in vinegar! I really thought that it was an important accent to have so I unwound some of it and set it out back on my picnic table to air out for about 15 min to see if maybe the smell would go away and the good news is it did. Once the smell was gone I wrapped it round the paper band I had created tied a simple bow. I was afraid that the bow would come out so I secured it with a little bit of glossy accent. I fussy cut around one of the pigs from the pattern paper and popped him up on dimensional adhesive. I stamped the sentiment with memento tuxedo Black ink and distressed the edges rubbed some stormy sky on it with my blending tool to give it the blue color then sprayed water into my hand and flicked it on the paper. When the paper was dry I matted it onto some more the pattern paper and inked and distressed the edges.
I also used the same scallop border punch on the bottom of the largest piece of patterned paper. I distressed and inked all edges of the paper and to keep the same look going from the front to inside.
Wow so I'm posting twice in one week! Please don't fall over in shock! I finally broke through my crafty block! And have been hard at work on a couple new cards that I needed to make for some July birthdays coming up.

For first card I made is a 5 1/4 square card and I'm calling it French wishes. I used a 12 x 12 SEI paper stock called Couture. I used a clear stamp set from Stampendous called Orchid greetings for the greeting on the outside of the card and also the sentiment on the inside of the card. The Eiffel Tower and the Vintage flapper are cling sets from two separate Recollections stamp sets that have no names listed on the packaging. I think they have been discontinued because I have not been able to find them again at Michael's where I originally bought them. Making the flowers was super easy using a Spellbinders Shapeabilities spiral blossom one and pattern paper from the stack. I added small Recollections pearls to each rose and then I dabbed some of the silver Colorbox ink directly on the flowers. The small writing area that I created I used the larget Spellbinders Nestabilities Deckled rectangles large, CC designs 110 lb Copic quality card stock, background stamp called old letter writing and silver ink I did not emboss anything in this area because I wanted people to be able to write on it. So I stamped, distressed the area with my blending tool and set it aside to dry because pigment inks especially this silver one take a long time to dry. I also used a hero arts in creating the background paper for both stamped images. Creating the background paper for both stamped images was really fuand easy it just takes several step. So with a little time-consuming. I started out by stamping both images on CC designs 110 lb Copic quality card stock in silver Colorbox ink. I embossed both with clear embossing powder. Then I stamped the Hero arts stamp in the same silver ink and embossed that with clear embossing powder as well. The final step was to take my Tim Holtz distressing tool and more silver ink and distressed the edges and over and lightly brushed ink over the surface of the entire area. The next step was to sprinkle clear embossing powder over the surface one more time and heat. It gave it an interesting shiny texture And that was it for creating the focal images. I repeated the same process on the front sentiment except I used Memento tuxedo Black ink to stamp the Happy Birthday. So it would stand out. The rest of it was just a matter of matting paper and adhering it to the card base which is also CC designs 110 lb Copic quality card stock. I'm very happy with how it turned out!

This next card I'm calling Sweet Birthday. I went for a much simpler approach on this using only pattern paper, Copic markers, clear stamps, a tonic distressed tool, some bakers twine from the The Twinery and Memento Tuxedo Black ink for this 5 1/4square card. for the pattern paper I used Authentique free bird series Nest Blush & Delight. I cut each of the pattern papers to size distressed all sided and inked with Tim Holtz distress ink in Old Paper. For the images I use a prima stamp. Stamped them both on CC designs 110 lb Copic quality card stock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with my Copic markers and fussy cut around the edges and adhered them to the pattern paper squares using tombo glue. I wrapped The Twinery bakers twine in pink sorbet around the card and secured on the back. The sentiment stamps come from another recollections stamp set that also has no name. I stamped those in the Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the patterned papers I had cut and previously distressed and inked. Adhered it altogether and Wah-la! I was done!

If you made it this far in my ramblings! This is my entry to the Anything Goes & DT Call over at the All That Scraps Blog. I need to work on getting better at updating my blog and when I do post actually linking to the materials I use. So I'm hoping that this helps push me to do just that! My card base is C.C. Designs 110 lb. copic quality card stock I stamped both images in Memento Tuxedo Black on the C.C. Designs 110 lb. copic quality card stock I colored both images from C.C. Designs Seashell Sarah and Reading Rebecca with my copic markers! (Please forgive me I forgot the write down the colors I used.) For the sentiments on the front and inside of the card I used Amy R's Oh So Beachy set.The patterned paper except for the yellow is from Me & My Big ideas the mambi sheets PDX-105. The yellow paper is from DCWV the Edumacation Stack. I tried to find a links to both but couldn't. I did just pick them up at Michaels. I used some paper flowers and brads from my stash. The Twinery Bakers Twine is in Caribbean . I did use a Glaze pen on the sunglasses and pupils of each girl and Crystals Stickles on their bathing suits. I am a little upset because the inside sentiment didn't fully set and because it's on glittery textured paper part of it came off. Oh well I live and I learn! Thanks for stopping by! More later... Hopefully sooner than later!

I know that I was supposed to come back and update the details to the last 2 cards that I posted for the card exchange and I have yet to come back and do it. Then this bloge entry I'm going to do it once again. Hee hee hee! Below are the Easter card I made for Jack's mom to send to the care takers who took care of her mom and my suprise 3rd card for my card exchange. But once again it's late and I'm tired. I will try and be back soon to update the details to both blogs. I am actually such a bored little card maker right now I'm toying with the idea of doing a 4th card as well. Look at me the super over acheiver. Also Pat and I have been toying of opening a craft store of sorts. I envison it as a place where people can have a membership and come craft. There would be a small about of craft products that could be purchased but mostly we would offer space for crafters to come and spread their projects out and work. We have been tossing names around and since her last name is Stickles and mine is Stotesbery I suggested we call it Sticks and Stotes craft corner. It's a play on words like Sticks and Stones but using our names. Jack and Pat said it didn't make sense. I think it would be cute and as long as the logo was designed in the right way it would make sense. Anyway I'm off to bed. I'm exhausted and I have to work tomorrow. I'll try to be back soon.

I am 33 days from 30 and Jack is going to be 40 on May 11th. I decided some time last year that I wanted to do something extra special for him since he has not really had the best birthdays the last few years. So for I have planned and booked a surprise trip to Vegas! I even have wrangeled a few close friends into taking the trip with us. And have even aranged for his best friend to fly with us. It is going to take all the strength that I possess not to tell him about this trip. It is definitely hard to keep secrets, especially something this big! It was hard for me to believe I'm actually going to be able to pull it off. Usually I have the best of intentions but very poor follow-through. Originally with this idea I wanted to go the 10th through the 13th of May but due to financial reasons I had to book it for May 9th - 12th. So we will still be in Vegas for his actual birthday. I also booked us a room at Treasure Island! I have never stayed at that one but I have heard great things about the hotel.

I need to figure out exactly how to tell him we are going to be going. My original idea was to not tell him until were on our way to the airport but I think I might have to tell before so he can pack himself instead of me packing his bag for him. I need to think of a really creative way to tell him. We leave a 1pm on the 9th so I could tell him as late at that morning or the night before. I'll have to do some thinking on how to do it.Taehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02585437852446278070noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2141270204730400175.post-7858216846399193872012-03-14T20:11:00.001-07:002012-04-03T23:01:52.601-07:00Seriously out of control!!!!!I had to work today. Not that that's the end of the world as it was a relatively short day. I only had to work 9 AM to 5 PM compared to my normal 9 AM to 9 PM days. I got a lot accomplished today archiving files, signing up new student's for the upcoming class starting Monday. But I'll tell you what I was happy to get home this evening I was were tired girl. I somehow caught a case of insomnia last night and didn't fall sleep until well after 2 AM. So getting up at 730 this morning was a very tough chore. Upon right of arriving home this morning
Upon arriving home this evening I noticed a brown package sitting on my doorstep! I was surprised and excited at the same time. But I couldn't remember ordering anything about all of my deliveries had already been delivered. This is why I'm out of control and need crafters anonymous. Who does that Seriously! Place an order and forget that you ordered something.. I think I have a little bit of acute confusion which is just one step away from Alzheimer's. Shoot it mean I knew I was getting old but I didn't think I was getting not old. The great news is although I may be losing my mind I have new crafty toys! So now I know you're salivating wondering what I got in this new shipment. So here's a rundown of what I got : I got a set of Tim Holtz stampers anonymous visual artistry stamps, I got a set of stamps from unity stamp company (perfect for making those cards for my mom because they've got all sorts little Bible quotes on them), I got a new spellbinders shapeabilities spiral blossom that I wish came with directions on how to assemble it, a set of rock-a-block, and the cute little friends forever butterfly cling set.

I just had to chuckle the thought of forgetting a order that I placed is pretty funny. Considering I'm still feeling like I don't have enough crafty things. I need to win the lottery that way I can build my dream craft room and finally be able to hit purchase on my Amazon and Joanne wish lists. I think that what would help most if I wasn't so completely and utterly obsessed with Tim Holtz as fabulous products. He has an awesome class coming up that he's talking about on his blog it's his first ever online class and I wish I could do it. Tim Holtz first online class it's looks so fun! I just checked his blog and I wasn't one of the winners for a free spot, not that I was surprised it is just my luck that I didn't win one of the spots. Oh well... maybe next time ;D I guess I'll just have to drown my sorrows playing with all my new crafty toys. The only thing I have to do for sure tonight is go to the store and get some shampoo because I am 100% out. And seeing as how I have to work tomorrow I do have to wash my hair in the morning.

More later.
I was have so much to say them so little time to say it but I'm finally utilizing my my Dragon software that I got for Christmas. I can't believe how accurate and amazing this is that I can just talk and poof there it is on my screenI guess it is a little cheating because blogging is supposed to be typing but I just don't have the time to type this all out. Tonight it was working on a project with a new technique that includes colored pencils and a solvent called gamsol and I was thinking to myself 30 is not so far away. I can't believe that I counted the days till my 30th birthday. I guess they say this is one milestone that you can't avoid. Growing up I always thought that this day was so far away and now it's just over a month away. Lots of people have been asking me lately what I want to do. I'm not really sure.

But back to my crafting project. Is this techniqueabout a week ago Along with about 12 other techniques that I wanted to try. So on to the Internet I jumped and ordered colored pencils a gamsol and several other items to get me through the other techniques I've seen. Well… These supplies were supposed to then delivered yesterday but weren't. Due to the complete lack of on-time delivery that my mailperson gives me. About 11 AM this morning I was up and getting ready to go wait out by the mailbox so I could give the mail person a piece of my mind my doorbell rang. I couldn't get the door fast enough and when I opened it there were my packages sitting there on the door step and all I could see were the vanishing taillights down my driveway of the scared mail woman's vehicle.

I was as excited as little kid on Christmas. I tore into the boxes frantic to see my new treasures. as I pulled them out of the brown paper wrapping, the packing peanuts, and bubblewrap my mind raced with a million different project ideas. In orde to center mysel I had to go back and review all of the you tube videos that I had watched previously. So I gathered up my stamps, StazOn ink, white card stock, colored pencils, blending stumps, and my gamsol and got to work. I learned a few valuable lessons today. Number 1: I'm not very good at coloring in the lines. Number 2: if you get the gamsol on your paper it will leave a grease like looking stain. And number 3: ..... Shoot I got interrupted and now forgotten what I was gonna stay for number 3 ha ha ha ha! I have to think about it and come back.
